Cosmetic Dermatology Services
Acne Scars
Acne scars can remain long after active acne has cleared, affecting the texture and appearance of your skin. The type and severity of scarring can vary, which means the right treatment depends on your individual skin and concerns.
RC Dermatology offers cosmetic treatments that can help improve the appearance of certain acne scars and create smoother, more even-looking skin. Depending on your needs, treatment options may include chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, or other cosmetic dermatology services.
If you're concerned about active acne as well as scarring, our dermatology providers can also help develop a treatment plan to manage breakouts and reduce the risk of future scars.
Aging & Wrinkles
Aging is a natural part of life, but cosmetic dermatology treatments can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and other visible signs of aging. Our experienced providers offer a range of treatment options, including chemical peels, Botox®, microdermabrasion, dermal fillers, and photofacials, tailored to your skin and cosmetic goals.
To help maintain your results at home, RC Dermatology also carries professional-grade, non-prescription skin care products that can support long-term skin health and a more youthful appearance. Ask our team for recommendations based on your skin type and concerns.
Botox®
Botox® is a highly purified form of botulinum toxin used to temporarily reduce the appearance of dynamic facial wrinkles. Repeated facial expressions, such as frowning, squinting, or raising your eyebrows, can cause lines and wrinkles to become more noticeable over time. Botox® works by temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles, helping the overlying skin appear smoother.
This quick, non-surgical treatment is commonly used to soften forehead lines, crow's feet around the eyes, and frown lines between the eyebrows. Because different types of wrinkles respond to different treatments, your RC Dermatology provider can help determine whether Botox® or another cosmetic option is best suited to your concerns.
RC Dermatology provides Botox® treatments in Des Moines and at select clinic locations throughout Iowa. Our experienced providers create personalized treatment plans designed to produce natural-looking, refreshed results. Schedule a consultation to learn whether Botox® is right for you.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are cosmetic skin treatments that use a carefully selected chemical solution to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin and encourage a smoother, more even appearance. Depending on the type and strength of peel, treatment may help improve concerns such as uneven skin tone, sun damage, dark spots, fine lines, and certain types of acne scarring.
Your provider will recommend a chemical peel based on your skin type, concerns, and desired results. Some peels can cause temporary redness, flaking, or peeling as the skin renews itself, so your provider will also discuss what to expect after treatment and how to care for your skin during recovery.
Juvéderm
Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler designed to smooth wrinkles and restore natural-looking facial volume. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body that helps the skin retain moisture and fullness. As facial volume changes with age, wrinkles and folds can become more noticeable.
Juvéderm® treatments can be used to address certain facial lines, folds, and areas of volume loss, depending on the specific product and your treatment goals. At RC Dermatology, our experienced cosmetic dermatology providers customize treatment to enhance your natural features while maintaining a refreshed, balanced appearance.
Schedule a consultation at one of our participating Iowa locations to learn whether Juvéderm® is right for you.
KYBELLA®
If fullness beneath your chin persists despite diet and exercise, KYBELLA® may provide a non-surgical treatment option.
KYBELLA® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment for moderate to severe submental fat, commonly known as a double chin. Its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When injected into targeted fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, which are then naturally processed by the body.
Treatment is customized based on the amount and distribution of submental fat and your desired results. An RC Dermatology provider can evaluate your concerns and determine whether KYBELLA® is an appropriate treatment option for you.
Latisse
LATISSE® is an FDA-approved prescription treatment for inadequate or insufficient eyelashes, a condition known as eyelash hypotrichosis. Applied regularly along the upper lash line, LATISSE® can help eyelashes grow longer, thicker, and darker over time.
Because LATISSE® is a prescription medication, it isn't right for everyone. Your RC Dermatology provider can evaluate your medical history, discuss potential side effects, and determine whether LATISSE® is appropriate for your needs.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive exfoliating treatment designed to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and reveal smoother, more refreshed-looking skin underneath. It can be used to improve overall skin texture and address concerns such as dullness, uneven tone, fine lines, age spots, and mild acne scarring.
Treatments are typically gentle and require little downtime. Depending on your skin and goals, your provider may recommend a series of microdermabrasion treatments or combine them with an at-home skin care routine to help maintain your results.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate the body's natural healing response and promote collagen production. As new collagen develops, the skin can gradually appear smoother, firmer, and more even in texture.
Microneedling may be used to improve the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, and other cosmetic concerns. Your RC Dermatology provider can determine whether microneedling is appropriate for your skin and recommend a treatment plan based on your goals.
Restylane
Restylane® is a family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers used to restore volume, smooth certain facial lines and folds, and enhance facial contours. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and helps the skin retain moisture and volume, both of which can diminish with age.
Different Restylane® products are designed for different treatment areas and cosmetic goals. Depending on your needs, treatment may be used to soften facial folds, restore lost volume, enhance the lips, or address other areas of the face.
An experienced RC Dermatology provider can evaluate your facial structure and goals and recommend a personalized approach designed to achieve balanced, natural-looking results.
Rosacea
Rosacea is a common skin condition that can cause persistent facial redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and acne-like bumps, most commonly on the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. Symptoms and triggers vary from person to person, and rosacea can change over time.
While there is no cure for rosacea, treatment can help manage symptoms and improve the appearance of redness and other visible concerns. RC Dermatology providers can recommend medical treatment when appropriate, as well as cosmetic options that may help address persistent redness or visible blood vessels.
If facial redness is bothering you, schedule an appointment with RC Dermatology for an evaluation and personalized treatment recommendations.
